Overseas Mission

World Mission Sunday 2014

01/10/2014 2:23 pm

It's World Mission Sunday on 19 October. This special day, chosen by the Pope, is an opportunity for Catholics worldwide to join together to pray for the missionary work of our Church, and to give what we can to Missio - the Church's official charity for overseas mission - so that parishes in need overseas are supported and sustained.

The World Mission Sunday collection - one of just three personally requested by our Holy Father each year - supports every parish in need overseas.

In 2014, Missio is focusing on the desperate situation of our brothers and sisters living in camps for internally displaced people in northern Myanmar - formerly known as Burma.

A delegation from Missio, led by its Chair Bishop Declan Lang, visited Myanmar in 2013. The video above gives you an insight into the Church's work in the country.

Missio has some PDF resources available for download. For parishes and parishioners.
