Fr Joe Wheat and Julia Palmer co-led the workshop session titled: How to reach out to non-churchgoing Catholics.

Fr Joe Wheat

Fr Joe Wheat is Parish Priest of Sacred Heart and St Bernadette’s in the Diocese of Nottingham and has previously worked in parishes in Lincoln, Derby and Grimsby.

He was also Director of the Diocesan Youth Service for five years. He works closely with the Adult Formation department in the diocese teaching on various courses and as a coordinator of the Crossing the Threshold evangelisation project.

His study and teaching interests include sacramental theology, moral theology, catechesis and he has a particular interest in working with and supporting Catholic schools.

Julia Palmer

Julia Palmer is Director of Adult Formation for the Nottingham Diocese and responsible for delivering catechetical and evangelisation programmes including CCRS and RCIA. She is also the Diocesan co-ordinator for the Crossing the Threshold project.

Previously she spent nearly twenty years working in parish ministry in one way or another, eleven years of which as an Anglican vicar, before becoming a Roman Catholic.

She has a BA in Social Studies, an MA in Theology, an MA in Mission in Ministry, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Applied Catholic Theology. She is married to David with three children. Hobbies include boating, reading and swimming.
