Palestine and Statehood

Outskirts of Gaza City, Palestine

Dr Harry Hagopian, the Bishops' consultant on the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region, returns with the first of our October 'Middle East Analysis' podcasts.

Today we looks at Israel/Palestine with the latter's quest for statehood the subject of a non-binding vote in the UK parliament on Monday, 13 October.

As the dust settles on the largely symbolic vote that saw MPs back Palestinian statehood alongside Israel by 274 to 12, Dr Hagopian sees the recognition of Palestine as a state as a significant step towards peace in the region.
