His Excellency Ambassador Nigel Baker, UK Ambassador to the Holy See

In today's extended Catholic News podcast, we welcome into the studio His Excellency Nigel Baker, the UK Ambassador to the Holy See.

Since presenting his credentials to Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI in September 2011, Ambassador Baker has seen some notable events take place in the Vatican - not least the papal transition and election of Pope Francis.

It's been two years since our last podcast with the Ambassador, so in this extended interview we cover plenty of ground:

  • Pope Francis and his style
  • Relations between the UK Government and the Holy See
  • Archbishop Nichols to be created a Cardinal
  • The Pope's recent address to the Diplomatic Corps in Rome

Ambassador Baker is the first UK Ambassador to the Holy See to blog on a regular basis.

You can read his thoughts on a wide range of subjects by visiting the blog on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office site.

Here's his post on the subject 'A new British Cardinal'.
