Cardinal Nichols: Statement on the extension of the Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme

His Eminence Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster and President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, has issued the following statement in response to the Home Secretary Amber Rudd’s announcement that the Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme (VPRS) will be extended with immediate effect to include non-Syrians fleeing the conflict area.

Archbishop Peter Smith, the Catholic Archbishop of Southwark, spoke to us having attended the vigil held for the victims of the London Bridge and Borough Market attack carried out on Saturday night, 3 June 2017. New Provincial Superior of the British Jesuit Province

Fr Arturo Sosa SJ, the General Superior of the Society of Jesus, has appointed Fr Damian Howard SJ as the next Provincial Superior of the British Jesuit Province. Fr Howard will take up this post on 1st September this year. He replaces Fr Dermot Preston SJ, who has been Provincial Superior since 2011.
