'Little Way Week' is an initiative that promotes prayer and service in the footsteps of St Thérèse of Lisieux, patroness of world mission. The week usually runs from 3- 7 October following her feast day on 1 October. The week encourages us to witness to God’s love by doing little things for God and others every day and strengthens the link between home, school and parish.
At aged seven, Thérèse joined The Society of the Holy Childhood, known to us now as Mission Together. It was as a member of the Holy Childhood that Thérèse grew in faith and admiration for the work of the missionaries. She treasured the work of Holy Childhood in her heart throughout the rest of her short life.
Missio, the Pope’s official charity for overseas mission and its children’s branch, Mission Together, have produced resources for secondary and primary school pupils to encourage them to follow St Térèse’s ‘little way’. An Assembly for secondary schools and an Assembly and Activity for primary aged children illustrate that with determination, faith and courage they can follow their own 'Little Way' to bring God’s love to the world.
Pupils will discover how St Thérèse trusted in God’s plan for her; prayed that she would make good decisions and might never be discouraged. Missio and Mission Together resources complement all Catholic R.E. programmes, uphold Catholic Teaching and help them to grow in faith.
