It's the sixth day of Advent and today's calendar window gives us another photo montage from March 2014.

It's the month that marked the first anniversary of Pope Francis' pontificate and saw the announcement of a new Archbishop for Liverpool as well as a new auxiliary Bishop of Westminster.

Pope Francis celebrated a year as Pope on 13 March 2014. It's been a whirlwind 12 months and this charismatic, pastoral Pope has made the headlines inside and outside the Church.

Former Rector of one of our seminaries in Rome - the Venerable English College - Mgr Nicholas Hudson is announced as a new auxiliary Bishop for the Diocese of Westminster.

Another episcopal announcement. This time it's Malcolm McMahon OP, until March Bishop of Nottingham. Pope Francis announced that the then-Bishop McMahon would succeed the Most Rev Patrick Kelly as Archbishop of Liverpool.

A month after the consistory that raised him to the dignity of Cardinal, Archbishop Vincent Nichols is back in Rome for a celebration at the Venerable English College. He's joined here by the Vice President of our Bishops' Conference, Archbishop Peter Smith of Southwark.
