January 2014

On the First Sunday of Advent we open the first window on our Advent Calendar. The focus is January 2014.

The first main event of the year, as it has been since 1998, was the Holy Land Co-ordination - an international pilgrimage of English-speaking Catholic bishops to the region of Christ's life, ministry, Passion and Resurrection.

The Bishops' Conference of England and Wales has organised this annual meeting to support the Church of the Holy Land and the Christian community. This year the Bishops visited the Palestinian territory of Gaza.

January also saw the first of the year's eight Episcopal Ordinations/Installations - Bishop Mark O'Toole in Plymouth.
